Child Care WAGE$® Programs are housed in non-profit organizations that must have:
- Experience delivering services to the early childhood education community on a statewide basis
- No conflicts of interest as an organization that could provide higher education or employ staff who could receive salary supplements
Organizations that could administer WAGE$ include:
- National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) State Affiliates
- Child Care Resource and Referral State Networks
- Statewide Early Childhood Organizations
“In child care, teachers bear a great deal of the weight of the high cost of quality through wages that do not reflect their true value to our communities. Centers can do some to ensure better wages, but tuition rates are restricted by families’ ability to pay. The WAGE$ Project helps to balance the equation by contributing to better compensation — reflecting the community as a shareholder in the success of the education of our children. It is both fair and valuable to have such a system.”
